Oracle Cloud Migrations supports ARM migrations for AWS EC2 instances
- Services: Oracle Cloud Migrations
- Release Date: September 09, 2026
Oracle Cloud Migrations now supports migrating supported Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 instances that use ARM architecture to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Compute.
When you run discovery for an AWS asset source, Oracle Cloud Migrations captures the source instance architecture when available. Migration plans use this architecture to recommend and filter compatible OCI Compute shapes and images.
A single migration project can contain both ARM and x86 based assets. Oracle Cloud Migrations evaluates each asset independently and applies the appropriate architecture-specific shape recommendations and replication workflow.
Before beginning a migration, confirm that:
- The source operating system is supported by Oracle Cloud Migrations. See Specifications for Using Oracle Cloud Migrations.
- A compatible ARM-based OCI Compute shape is available in the destination region. Supported shapes include VM.Standard.A1.Flex, VM.Standard.A2.Flex, and VM.Standard.A4.Flex. See Compute Shapes.
- Sufficient capacity is available for the selected shape in the destination region. Use the capacity-availability guidance in Creating an Instance.
- The tenancy has sufficient Compute service limits and quotas for the selected shape. See Limits by Service.
